We stayed in Friendswood this Easter because we were just in Keller 2 weeks ago for spring break and Trey got goodies from Grandma, Grandpa, and GG. About a week before Easter I took Trey to see the Easter bunny at the mall. He didn't seem to mind sitting on the bunny's lap. I didn't know how he would do since we didn't take him to see Santa. He didn't start crying until I put him back in his stroller and was paying for the picture. The day before Easter we went to Clear Lake United Methodist Church for their Easter festivities. Robert took Trey in the petting zoo and I rode the train with him. On Easter day, we hid easter eggs but Trey wasn't interested in finding them. He did eat a chocolate coin out of his basket and played with his giant legos. We went to 11:30 am mass in the hall (overflow mass) and Trey decided to talk and squirm all through church. Gramps and Gamma Bean came over for Easter Sunday dinner and brought us all goodies. Another update- Trey is waving like crazy now.

April Fools Day 2010

April 1st is the anniversary of our first date. We met 5 years ago. Geez has it been that long? Robert didn't make it home from his track meet until around 1:30 a.m. and I didn't wake up when he left so he technically got pranked on April 2nd. I put orajel on his toothbrush and when he came home I kissed him and asked him to brush his teeth b/c he had bad breath. Then he was like "what did you put on here my mouth is burning!" Then he said his mouth was numb. It was pretty funny.

4 Year Anniversary Celebration

We decided to celebrate our 4 year anniversary early this year. We went to Keller for spring break and Robert had been wanting to visit Tom Colicchio's restaurant Craft-Dallas. Tom Colicchio is one of the judges on the popular tv show "Top Chef." We got grandma and grandpa to babysit and went and had a wonderful time and tried some new foods we had never tried including: Duck Galantine, Wagyu Beef Cheek, and baby broccoli. Another highlight of dinner was the diver scallops. It is so rare that we get some alone time together and it was very romantic. We definitely needed it!

Trey's 9 month update

I took Trey to his 9 month appt. today (at 9.5 months). He is 31 3/4 inches tall and weighs 24 lbs. He has grown 2 inches and 2 lbs since his 6 month check-up. The doctor said he is doing just great.

At 9 months he:

Cruises along all the furniture

Can stand up on his own for about a minute

Crawls all over the place

babbles often

wears 18 month clothes

resists a diaper change

eats real people food all the time

goes to Toddler Time at the library and just started going to The Little Gym

favorite new thing is opening and closing doors and taking things out of cabinets.

He still has not quite mastered his sippy cup, clapping, or waving. We're working on it.

Trey has a stalker at Danbury High School. She is one of Robert's students named Taylor. So far she has made him a 1/2 birthday card and for Valentine's Day she baked him brownies and heart shaped cookies. So sweet that he already has a Valentine and he's not even 8 months old yet. Here he is devouring one of the cookies. Despite the expression on his face, he really did like it and managed to eat the whole thing before I could even put the camera down.

Car accident with baby

Today someone rear-ended me at a red light with the baby in his car seat in the back. My sweet little angel slept through the entire thing. It was harder than I've ever been hit before. The headrest actually hit me in the head pretty hard and the back bumper is coming out. I tried to drive the car but it would sputter and die. I was so worried I was going to have to call a tow truck and I would be stuck there while we waited in the cold. Luckily, the police came and showed me the fuel cutoff switch. I am so thankful that my baby is ok and now I am starting to realize what a huge responsibility I have. And even though I was being so responsible, there is nothing I could have done differently. I am still stressing about the whole thing. I'm just glad my little guy is happy and well.

All I Want to do is Stand UP

Trey has started pulling himself up to a standing position. He tries it all day. Most of the time he looks like he is going to army crawl. But he can walk himself up sometimes. He pushed himself up to standing on me 3 days ago. Two days ago I found him standing up in his crib in the morning, and last night we took this picture of him when he didn't want to go to bed. He is getting to be such a big boy!

On a side note, Trey, Tryvor, and I went to a Danbury basksetball game last night and Trey dropped his dump truck popper from the stands onto the court. A ref picked it up and gave it back to us. Good thing it stayed out of bounds!

New Year's Eve 2009

New Year's Eve was pretty exciting because Robert was on tv several times. He got invited by Coby to go to the Texas Bowl and move the chains but ended up holding on to the instant replay headphones. Here, you can see him waiting for the ref to give the headphones back to him.

We spent New Year's Eve at home this year with champagne and goodies. Very low key but very nice.

Farewell 2009

2009 was a great year because Trey was born. Other things were not so great about it: bed rest, eye infection, etc. Robert also really liked his new job at Danbury. Here's hoping 2010 is even better and to enjoying every moment of watching Trey grow from 6 months to 1 1/2 year. Here he is in his Born in '09 t-shirt showing off his two bottom teeth!

Trey's 1st Christmas

We had two Christmases this year. The first one was on Dec. 19th after Bob and Bev's Christmas party. Trey loved his rocking horse but wasn't really quite sure how to ride it yet.

Trey got to meet his cousin Britney for the first time. They had so much fun together!

Our second Christmas started on Christmas Eve in Keller. It started snowing on our way up and when we got there, Mom and Dad's electricity was out. Luckily it came back on in time for festivities but we didn't make it to Christmas Mass because the roads were so icy.

Christmas morning. Santa brought Trey a musical table. The legs aren't on so he can play with it now. It was a wonderful 1st Christmas for Trey and the best Christmas yet!

Grandpa passes away on Trey's 1st Thanksgiving

My grandpa, Joe Hopfer passed away Thanksgiving morning. He was a wonderful grandfather. He was always the fun one when we were little and very generous to me. He lived to be 88 and I will miss him terribly. I'm thankful for all the good times I got to spend with him and am glad that he was able to see me get married and meet his great-grandson before he died.

We spent Thanksgiving with Robert's family this year. Bob, Bev, Fred, Shell, Tryvor, Evelyn, and Gene were there. This year was also special because the Rupleys were there with their son Landon who was a little over 1 year old so Trey had someone to play with. Trey enjoyed some squash for his first Thanksgiving.

Danbury Wins Their First Game!

Robert has been coaching varsity at a 2A school this year and after struggling for most of the season, the Panthers won their first game last night. Robert was ecstatic! He said it was one of the best days in his coaching career. It was a great game and I'm so proud of my hubby. Bob and Bev came to the game for the first time this season to watch Robert coach. (Now they will be coming to the next game as well since someone is a little superstitious.)

Trey's Baptism

Robert Valentine Gail III. was baptized on June 21, 2009, Father's Day, at Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood. It was a very happy day for us. All of his grandparents were there, his godparents were my brother, Greg, and Robert's sister, Shell.

Our Beautiful Baby Boy Has Arrived!

Our baby boy Trey arrived 1 week late on June 15, 2009 at 7:04 p.m. We had a scheduled induction at 7:30 in the morning and 11.5 hours and 2 epidurals later he finally graced us with his presence. He weighed in at 9 lbs 14 oz and was 20.5 inches long. We are so happy and blessed.

Three Amazing Years!

Yesterday was our third wedding anniversary. It really doesn't seem like it has been that long but on the other hand it does seem like we've been together forever. We had a wonderful, romantic dinner at Perry's Steakhouse in Friendswood. Robert made reservations and told them it was our anniversary and we had a table in the corner that was covered in rose petals. I had a filet and Robert had chops. Expensive but yummy. Can't wait to eat the complimentary dessert we brought home. It was probably our last chance to go out to a nice dinner for a while and was extra special because we have so little time left to spend together as "just us" before the baby gets here. I'm lucky to be married to such an amazing, romantic man!

Robert graduated from the University of Houston Clear-Lake on Saturday night with his Masters in Education. I'm really proud of him!

Trey's Baby Room is Done!

Trey's baby room is finally done! We have had the crib and dresser put together for a while and today we put together the pack and play (though it won't be in his room). Can't wait for our little guy to get here. Hope he likes sports and what his grandparents bought for him.

Week of Birthdays

We went to my parents last weekend to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. Saturday we had cake and ice cream with some friends. Greg, Kate, Mary, Hilary and the kids and Bill showed up to help celebrate. We went to the Rangers game Sunday with Mom and Dad and Greg and Kate and it was an awesome game. Rangers won!

Monday was Robert's 32nd birthday. 32 is my lucky number. Robert took off early from work to come to the baby's ultrasound and then we went home and he opened his presents (Ipod Nano from me, Perfect Pullup from my mom and dad, etc.) and had cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.
Wednesday was my 28th birthday and we celebrated with pizza at home, candy, and Pepsi floats (not as good as coke floats). My gorgeous Citizen Eco-drive watch and Coach purse that Robert gave me for Christmas were part of my birthday too. My parents sent beautiful flowers to cheer me up (birthdays just aren't that much fun anymore). I realized today that I have everything I have ever wanted. A wonderful family, the most amazing husband, great friends who remember me on my birthday, and my husband has given me the best present ever, a beautiful baby boy on the way.
This Saturday we will go to Robert's parents to celebrate all of our birthdays: Robert's, his dad's, and mine.

33 Week Ultrasound

Everything is looking good for baby. The only problem the doc sees now is the SUA (single umbilical artery). Trey already weighs 6.5 pounds and is really long and they suggested we talk to our OBGYN about whether we will need a 37 week ultrasound to see how big he is and talk about the possibility of induction. Can't wait until he arrives.
